Celebration of the Arts

If you’re in or around Canaan Valley this summer during July 4, the Canaan Valley Celebration of the Arts event, held at Canaan Valley Resort Ski area, is a must-do activity for the whole family!

Celebration of the Arts is not only a way for Tucker County to enjoy July 4, but it has also also been a popular event for more than 27 years. Each year, the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra puts on a free concert and draws a huge crowd. In the past, there were more than 1,300 guests in attendance for the “Celebrate America” tour.

The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, under the director of Andre Raphel, looks to perform a variety of patriotic favorites such as, The Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, 1812 Overture, The Stars and Stripes Forever, and more! Individuals are encouraged to bring their blankets and lawn chairs for a relaxing evening of Americana music and show tunes!

Additional Fourth of July activities include, Mountaineer Days in Thomas, Windfest at Canaan Valley Resort, Thomas fireworks, and more.

The Celebration of the Arts is made possibly through the efforts of many volunteers and is funded by a complicated patchwork of individual and corporate contributions, foundation support and grants.
